Rodale Health Finder with Quarnhole!™

This is a handsome Quarnhole! book safe from the Rodale Press in Emmaus, PA. They’re best known for Men’s Health, Prevention, Runner’s World and Women’s Health magazines. I grew up in Allentown, which is 5 miles from Emmaus. I even did a small job for Rodale once. A friend’s mom worked there and they were shooting some sort of commercial or video or something, so I was enlisted as an extra. It was a lot of fun. Rodale was a pioneer of the organic movement and a bit of a health nut in general, which makes the account of his death so remarkable. In 1971, he was 72 and a guest on the Dick Cavett Show. He had just completed an interview in which he boasted of never feeling better and planned to live to 100. A few minutes into the next interview he had a heart attack and died. There’s something to say for modesty.

It’s obvious how much care went into the manufacture of this book. The cloth looks undyed and I wouldn’t be surprised if Rodale tried to keep his printing process as organic as possible either. The black type and graphics look incredible against that cloth, too. The graphics have a bit of an Arabic flair, very nice.
