Practical Guide to Home Landscaping

This is a big, beautiful book safe with very nice graphics. My wife’s an avid gardener and she’s really good at it. If it wasn’t for her, I’m pretty sure I’d never have been to the Huntington Botanical Gardens or Descanso Gardens, both in the Pasadena area, which is an extremely rich area. In fact, each garden occupies over 100 acres that were formerly each an estate. We’re not talking 100 acres out in a SoCal desert, we’re talking in the thick of Los Angeles County. Granted, Los Angeles is very spread out; they call it urban sprawl. It makes life kind of car-dependent. I love driving, but not in traffic. There are far too many drivers that don’t have driving as their main priority. Also, those jackholes who stay in the far left lane while cars pass on the right. I think when the signs refer to ‘slower traffic’ some people think that just means slower than the speed limit, but slower than surrounding traffic is the goal.
