Heidi Shut-The-Boox™

Heidi is one of the best-selling books ever written and is among the best-known works of Swiss literature, this one happens to be our inaugural Shut-the-Boox™ game!  Otherwise, my only knowledge of Heidi is from when NBC switched to it from the 1968 regular season Jets/Raiders matchup. The game was running long and the Jets were up comfortably, so they figured why not. The Raiders made a stunning comeback, that’s why not. The networks subsequently took measures to ensure another such travesty never occur. That was back when there were 3 major networks and about 13 channels TOTAL. That’s tough to comprehend considering the viewing options today. Heck, even back in 1992, Bruce Springsteen lamented over having a 57 channels and nothing on. Only 57!?! I don’t even have cable now but still have access to a staggering amount programming and content.

This Heidi Shut-the-Boox™ is exceptionally gorgeous. I know, I’m trying to sell this thing, but really, I’m not one for hyperbole. That said, this one’s a piece of art. It’s 85 years old and looks like new. The cover art looks like it’s a separate piece adhered to the blue cloth with a yellow border painted around it. The yellow type and graphic on the binding looks awesome against the deep blue as well.
