Hammond World Atlas with Deck of Trivia Cards

**Includes a vintage deck of geography trivia cards. These are from the 70s just like this atlas, so up the game by spotting what’s out-of-date, e.g. East/West Germanies and North/South Viet Nams.

It may be a small world, but this is a huge atlas. In mythology, Atlas was a Titan condemned to hold up the sky for eternity. In reality, the term atlas wasn’t used for a collection of maps until 1595, by a gentleman namd Gerardus Mercator. My brother has a degree in cartography, but he never got into map making. He’s kind of the white sheep of the family. He was a Marine, a cop, and now he’s a librarian. That’s an interesting career trajectory. I was a little nervous telling him about this current endeavor, what with his being a custodian of books and my repurposing of them. He loves the idea, so I consider that an official endorsement from a librarian.

This is a big, beautiful, dark green book safe with gold lettering on the front and spine. The cover seems kind of padded, presumably to minimize injury if falling from the top shelf.
