Nancy Drew Mystery at the Ski Jump Bookgammon™ Set

I was kind of raised on TV; it was my babysitter for the most part. So, as I reflected on what to write about this book, I naturally gravitated toward the late 1970s Nancy Drew TV show. The more I pondered, the more I focused on Nancy’s dad in the show, portrayed by one William Schallert. He was just such a calming presence to me for some reason, in his fatherly role. Looking at his IMDB page and it appears that the guy was in almost everything. Aside from being Carson Drew, what I remember him from most is a couple of Disney flicks, The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes and The Strongest Man in the World…(see Description below for more)

…He played Prof. Quigley in both, aside the star, a young Kurt Russell as Dexter Riley. Boy, that guy’s had a successful career, huh? He has an equally long IMDB page. I like how he went from the squeaky clean, wholesome Disney kid to the polar opposite in a couple of his latest roles. Two Westerns in particular come to mind, Bone Tomahawk and The Hateful Eight. Talk about violent. I really liked both films and would be hard-pressed to have a preference. The latter is written and directed by the one and only Quentin Tarantino. The former, on the other hand, was written and directed by the relatively unknown S. Craig Zahler. I’m not sure he’ll ever achieve the recognition of a Tarantino, but the dialog in Bone Tomahawk is exceptional. It seems extremely authentic. If you haven’t seen it, go check it out, but remember that I warned you about the violence.
